The Payson Campgrounds

Payson is where all the action takes place. It is definitely one of the most famous campgrounds in Arizona. Located a mere one and a half hour away from Phoenix by car, the area is flooded with both locals and tourists annually. The Mazatzal Mountains offers majestic views and miles of hiking trails.

The Flagstaff Campgrounds

Being one of the largest cities in Arizona, Flagstaff definitely stakes its claim as having some of the best campgrounds in Arizona. The area offers a wide variety of outdoor attractions, and campers have the option of hiking, biking, walking, and fishing on most of the campgrounds located there. The high elevation of Flagstaff campgrounds also provides a respite from the heat below.

Grand Canyon South Rim Campgrounds

The Grand Canyon actually has two “rims”, which are located to the south and north. The south rim is preferred by more tourists because it is easily accessible. Campers often make it a point to visit the south rim when they’re in the area because of the majestic view, recreational activity, and great memories they can build there. The only downside with the Grand Canyon South Rim campground seems to be its popularity. Every year, it is difficult to get a good camp site because campers often flock there during summer.
