Wreck diving can conjure up feelings of adventure and excitement. But nothing beats the actual experience of being able to dive underwater to explore the wrecks left over from long ago. Wreck diving can be an exhilarating and unforgettable experience. So, let us explore several types of wrecks you are likely to encounter:

Ships and Boats – The most common type of wrecks are ships and boats. Most ships were sunk accidentally, and sometimes, lives were lost in these tragedies. But nowadays, it is actually quite common for navies to sink decommissioned ships deliberately for the enjoyment of wreck divers. You should be aware of the difference if you are looking for mystery and excitement. There are many ship wrecks to choose from; it ranges from five hundred year old ships to modern warships.

Submarines – It is not easy to encounter submarines if you are out on a wreck diving adventure. It is simply because submarines are less common and ihave the tendency to be located in deep waters. Wreck divers usually have a difficult time accessing submarines, so there always is the mysterious aura that surrounds these structures.

Airplanes – It is quite common for wreck divers to encounter airplanes during their adventure. Most of these planes are fighter jets that were shot during World War II. A lot of airplane wrecks are located in the South Pacific especially in Micronesia.

Automobiles – Automobile wrecks are not very common but usually can be found in rivers, quarries, and lakes. Some ships also have sunk with automobiles onboard.

As exciting as wreck diving might seem, you always should remember that there are dangers associated with it. Wreck diving involves swimming around wrecks to admire the features of the sunken ship, boat, or automobile and get some photographs. But wreck diving will carry more danger if you decide to penetrate the wreck. It is important to remember that most wrecks are not safe to penetrate because the structure might not be stable.
